This 1" (<2 cm) critter may be Aequorea victoria (Water Jelly)? It was so much smaller than all the others I've seen, floating on top of a mass of seaweed. There aren't as many "spokes" as a mature Aequorea victoria, and it seemed flatter, though that could be because it was on top of the seaweed. The center is green. The second photo with a macro shows interesting detail of the edge.

This snake (with my size 9 shoe for size) was sunning in the middle of the road. It was not interested in moving off, but I knew the neighbors would run her over on purpose, so I used a stick to prod gently and convince it to go over to the side. Good camo--it blends in quite well once it is under the sagebrush.

Found sitting in the road with wings splayed out, unmoving. Picked him up out of the road (he opened his eyes and squeaked loudly) and watched for about ten minutes to see if he'd recover on his own, and then walked back to my car, put him in a little box, and brought him to the wildlife rehab in Burlingame. On the walk back he'd occasionally rouse and open his eyes, peck me gently, move his wings, clutch my hand with his feet, etc., and seemed to gradually be getting more active, so hopefully with some sugar water and a rest in rehab he might recover.

Nothing obvious in the area, so I assume a window strike that flew off at the time of impact but didn't make it too far.

The leaves aren't very long, and CalFlora has a couple of Primula tetrandra observations in this location... but the inflorescence is a little bit hairy, which would suggest P. jeffreyi instead. (With 4 petals, it could go either way.) Sometimes you can go by the intensity of the color at the base of the petals, but I've found that both species in this area are pretty yellow.

Found this little bat on the ground next to the trail. Called the wildlife Shelter and found out bats can't fly when they are on the ground. So I carefully scooted her into a mesh bag then place the bag against the trunk of a large red cedar. She climbed out of the bag, up the tree and flew away.

Var. majus is not along the "bright yellow" key track, but describes the lanate texture under the leaves, and is found in steppe habitat; var. umbellatum is bright yellow and tomentose below, but Lesica says he has seen no specimens despite it being reported for Montana. I'm inclined towards to former, but will hold off until I can see the actual description of the subspecies, rather than just what is in the key.
