We started seeing this taxon last week. On Aug. 27, 2018 we were alerted to the presence of a dense surface scum on the shoreline and collected sample. The bloom was bright green and well developed (see photos).

This pond has had a major algae bloom most of the summer. I took a sample this day. The algae looks like grass clippings in the water.

Water very green; definitely blooming.
With the algae torch we found a total chlorophyll of 40.2 µg/l with 28.9 µg/l due to cyanobacteria.
One horizontal tows collected near the boat ramp.
The phytoplankton assemblage was dominated by Aphanizomenon (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/12359277) but a few Fragilaria (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/12359325) also present.
