Small, super slimy mushroom growing in moss near a stream. Cap is covered in thick slime (which reminded me a lot of Hygrophorus sp.). Stipe is dry and the base is slightly bulbous (and tapering to a point). Cherokee County, Alabama, US. June 3, 2023.

Growing in moss on the bank of a creek (which had receded).
Black teleomorph. Ascospores 16 per ascus, hyaline, minutely warted, ovate, 6.7 x 4.8 µm. Ascus 115 µm.
On a hardwood stick. Does not turn to powder or slime when touched.
observation for white mushrooms. Mycena sp.? The closest I could find was Mycena chloroxantha var. appalachienensis.
On Adenostoma fasciculare branches that were killed back in a fire, plant resprouting from its base.
Substrate lawn/ dirt scattered
Curled under cap margin (young) crowded gills convex to hemispheric cap brown firm slightly viscid with dirt on top short stalk tapered short cream colored gills
Cap large becoming lighter even edge margins and Plano umbonate with gills adnate to decurrent with age
Thought it was Sphagnurus but it’s in pin cushion moss
