Today I ventured into the Hammond Park woods. The weather was in the 50s and the sky was clear. At first is was very easy to find each type of plant we were instructed to take pictures of. I found a a fruiting plant, evergreen, and moss all in the same spot. The area was slightly damp, but it did not seem to be a very wet. The moss I found grew mostly on rocks and at the bases of trees. Quickly I moved from this area becasue I had found almost everything. Ferns were the most difficult to find around Hammond. I eventually stumbled upon more low lying wetlands and a lot of ferns started to grow there.

Today I went on a small nature walk around the reservoir at Boston college. I spent most of my time exploring the area around gate C. It was a cool damp morning, which was perfect for a fungi search. On my walk I came across a lot of fallen trees and branches so I took the time to thoroughly look through them. These places host an abundance of small life invisible if you are not aware. The wet tree trunks and branches had 3 different variations of fungi. One grew as any common mushroom would, others were layers, and the last one I found seemed to wrap around a branch.

Today I had spent my time walking around the Reservoir adjacent to Boston College. I wouldn't say the area around the reservoir has a lot of biodiversity but I was able to discover a few "wild" growing flowers. I had also stumbled upon a small roadside garden and found cone flowers and berries. I would describe the area as temperate, so the plants I had taken photos of will not be around in the coming months. Thus, it is a good area to reveal the cycle of seasons and how things will grow and disappear as part of its life cycle.
