I am a former teacher of writing, retired from Stockton College (now University) in 2015. In recent years I have focused most of my nature study in Atlantic County, NJ, especially Port Republic, where we have lived since 1989.

I've been the moderator and co-moderator of the South Jersey Butterfly Project and its Sightings Log since its creation in 2008. As of December 31, 2020, we had gathered 30,650 observations of butterflies in NJ's southern eight counties (OCN, BUR, CAM, GLO, ATL, SAL, CUM, and CMY) and documented the seasonality, locales, and numbers of 107 species. Anyone exploring southern NJ is welcome to contribute observations. See our Sightings Log here: https://sjbutterflies.org/.
