Hi, I'm Valerie!

I am a former National Park Service ranger/naturalist/superintendent. I have B.A. and M.S. degrees in Biology and am an observational naturalist at heart. I love identifying plants and animals for myself and others.

I split my time between the Black Hills of South Dakota and the Chihuahuan Desert of Texas, but I travel far and wide to see birds and mammals. The Great Plains and Southwest Deserts inspire me.

iNaturalist is new to me, and I look forward to using it more and more.
