I began watching birds with my students in 1994, when we built a bird feeding station and covered bird blind at our school in Hillsboro, Oregon. As a BirdSleuth Ambassador for Cornell Lab of Ornithology I support efforts to engage students and teachers in bird education and citizen science. I’ve made six trips to Peru with the Educator Academy in the Amazon Rainforest, where we have been working to get bird education and binoculars into the hands of students and teachers along the Amazon and Napo rivers. For information about how you can help, please visit the Amazon Binocular Project at: https://morphoinstitute.org/amazon-binocular-project. I am amazed with the biodiversity in the Amazon Rainforest and enjoy photographing my discoveries to share on iNaturalist.
