I have had a lifelong affinity for nature. As a child I would spend hours finding and researching all the living things on the diverse property I grew up on that included forest, marsh, grasslands and an old quarry my family called the pits. I have always enjoyed photography and with the advent of digital photography I found myself cataloging everything all over again, but this time with an eye for presenting things artistically. Though not all interesting finds allow for artistic presentation I will post what I refer to as a documentation shot ,good enough to show the subject but not very beautiful, though beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I loved biology growing up but went in a different direction for post secondary education attending both Carleton University and the University of Ottawa .
My mother was a keen birder so I have been birding since I can remember and the home I grew up at was an amazing birding location and have been birding for over 50 years.Butterflies and moths are another subject I enjoy shooting so I transformed my lot with thousands of perennials to bring them to me.I am blessed with a forest behind the house that gives me excellent looks at the birds and all sorts of neat wildlife.
