I am an amateur naturalist, brought into the fold a few years back through participation with the Arlington Regional Master Naturalists (ARMN). Over the last 5 years, I have done a lot of restoration work along the Potomac in the Lower Potomac Gorge on the Virginia side (in conjunction with the NPS). I am trying to capture expanding species diversity there after substantial invasives are removed. So far, I find the results astonishing in how quickly native biodiversity recovers once the invasive pressure is lessened. I also started two Projects that capture the biodiversity in the overall Potomac Gorge -- the broader one is Potomac Gorge Biodiversity (all taxa) and the narrower one is Potomac Gorge Plants.
