I love nature.

My current passion is moths and I manage the Moths of Oklahoma project. I host Moth Nights throughout the warm part of the year (April-October) and focus a lot of my attention on observing within my home state of Oklahoma. That being said, I love to travel and make nature observations everywhere I go, be it just outside of Oklahoma or on the other side of the globe. I've done quite a bit of traveling and look forward to doing more.

At various times I have been obsessed with tropical fish (general freshwater and African cichlids), aquatic plants, tropical plants (primarily Aroids and Orchids), fossil collecting, and birding. Throughout my various phases I have enjoyed photographing and learning names of what I see (Latin and common), and bringing people together with similar passions.

I am a big advocate for creating healthy ecosystems and encouraging biodiversity. I have really gotten interested in native plants and have dedicated half of my front yard to a pollinator garden, which is helping the environment and bringing me lots of enjoyment, too. It's great to be able to find species I haven't seen before right in my own yard.

I also love reading and I spend a considerable amount of time reading non-fiction related to nature and history of natural sciences. I like sharing what I learn with my kids and getting them involved outdoors and appreciating nature.

I have a MS in Meteorology and I am a software developer at the National Weather Service's Radar Operations Center.
