This juvenile Sixline Wrasse was photographed at North Solitary Island, New South Wales in March 2003.
The observation extends the known distribution of the species on the east coast south by more than 750 km from the Capricorn Group, Queensland.
In Australia, the Sixline Wrasse,
Pseudocheilinus hexataenia, occurs in tropical marine waters.

The species was described way back in 1857 by legendary Dutch ichthyologist Peter Bleeker.
