A 'life long learner' and naturalist with camera gear, I have attempted to document with photos and GPS waypoints, the flora and fauna I find while making my way through this world.

Previously mainly focused on birds of prey, my scope then expanded to birds in general but since the summer season of 2015 my main focus has become butterflies.
With my focus redirected, away from the open sky and bird perches to areas more down to earth, I am now documenting more types of insects along with host and nectar plants.

My goal has been to be a contributor to the understanding of butterflies in Algoma District of Ontario.
As I spent time quietly observing and photographing among flower patches, the number of spiders and non-butterfly insects that I have encountered has greatly increased and I do what I can to document them here on iNaturalist,

My field work time has greatly diminished in the last few years due to a conflict between "Documenting Nature in Algoma and my personal Carbon Footprint". For roughly four seasons, I travelled to the far corners of the southern Algoma District in my pursuit to document butterflies and other flora and fauna within this district. But when I examined the amount of fuel I consumed to reach my goals, I began to realize that the data that I collected had an enormous cost to global warming/climate change. Since then I have sold my vehicle and now rely solely on public transit for travel. An amazing U-turn from my previous five years. This has not been easy as I miss my time in the wildness greatly, however the cost-benefit analysis has proven my behaviour to be too costly.
