🌿 Protect Your Community: Spot, Report, and Eradicate Poison Hemlock! 🌿

CKISS needs YOU to report sightings of the invasive and dangerous Poison Hemlock.

Why is this important?

Poison Hemlock (Conium maculatum) is highly toxic to humans, livestock, and pets. This plant also displaces native vegetation, especially in riparian areas, leading to reduced biodiversity and significant environmental and economic impacts.

How to Identify Poison Hemlock:
Flowers: Small, white, umbrella-shaped clusters.
Stalk: Smooth, hollow, marked with distinctive purple spots or streaks.
Leaves: Fern-like, finely divided, bright green with a strong, musty odor.
⚠️ WARNING! ⚠️
Poison Hemlock is highly toxic and deadly if ingested. Always exercise caution and prioritize safety when handling this dangerous plant.

Community Effort

Our goal is to empower the entire community, along with landowners and local authorities, to join forces in eradicating Poison Hemlock. Despite ongoing efforts, some areas, like Dodd's Creek and various private lands, still need attention. With your help, we can make a significant impact.

How to Control Poison Hemlock:

Control methods include manual removal, ensuring you wear protective gear to avoid skin contact. Cut the plant at the base before it seeds, and carefully bag and dispose of all plant material. Avoid composting as the seeds can spread. Herbicide treatments may be necessary for larger infestations; consult local guidelines and professionals for safe use.

⚠️ WARNING! ⚠️
