Taxonomic notes: Section empty
This species is known only from the type locality at 3,770 m asl, 15 km southeast of Maraypata, near Laguna Gwengway, province of Ambo, region of Huánuco, Peru (Lehr and Aguilar 2003). It has not been found at other nearby localities surveyed during the same expedition, suggesting perhaps that this may be a geographically restricted species (E. Lehr pers. comm. September 2013). However, no new surveys have been conducted at the type locality or surrounding area since this expedition (E. Lehr pers. comm. August 2013).
It lives in the puna ecoregion. Individuals have been found in the afternoon under stones on moist underground (Lehr and Aguilar 2003). As with other congeners it is presumed to breed by direct development.
It is known only from individuals collected at the type locality and is considered to be a rare species (E. Lehr pers. comm. 2008, August 2013), as only two individuals were observed over the course of three person/days in 2001 (von May et al. 2008).
Livestock farming has been observed at the type locality (E. Lehr pers. comm. 2008), although its impact on this species is unknown (E. Lehr pers. comm. August 2013).
No conservation actions are currently known for this species. Further research is required into its population status and trends, ecology and threats.
Listed as Data Deficient in view of the absence of recent information on its extent of occurrence, status, ecological requirements and threats.
