Observed while blacklighting during the 2023 South Florida City Nature Challenge (CNCSOFLO). I set up three sheets in this area. Moon at 60% illumination, winds weak. This observation is from the second sheet described below.
1: Near bathroom, facing parking area/pines to the north and pines to the south. Lit by Bioquip blacklight (connected to electrical outlet in bathroom with long extension cable) and two cheapy DJ blacklights connected to USB battery packs.

Seen on a field trip organized by Steve Woodmansee as part of the Dade Native Plant Workshop. We inventoried a large lot owned by Christ the King Catholic Church. The lot was formerly pine rockland and still contains an impressive amount of pine rockland plant species. It was essentially just missing the pines! The church regularly mows the lot, which probably helps keep the invasives away and doesn't bother the pineland species too much. I visited the adjacent vacant lot in January 2021 but there is a house under construction there now. I had my macro lens with me so stopped to check for bugs.
For my own memories: bike thief incident
Continuing bird first reported by Carlos Sanchez back in November. Here is his observation: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/102404642
Seen on a "Kendall Big Day" with David Montoya. More info about this birding marathon here: https://ebird.org/tripreport/33721
One of the best nights of blacklighting I have had so far! Temps were in the low 70's, there was some light wind making for difficult photography at times but it wasn't too bad. Lots of bigger insects came to the first sheet so I didn't spend as much time on the tiny stuff and probably missed lots species. I also met a couple really cool guys that were into bluegrass music so I had crunchy tunes to go along with the blacklighting goodness.
I had two sheets set up, this photo is from the second sheet described below, which I didn't spend as much time at.
First sheet was at the first Mitchell's Landing Campground with an RV hookup and regular power sockets. I was using my Bioquip blacklight hooked up to the power there and also changed the position of the sheet ever so slightly so it was a little bit further from the big oak here and maybe was a little more exposed.

Second sheet was in a random little area right off Loop Road that mostly had pines. Not an ideal setup but I didn't have a lot of time and wanted to try a new spot. I lit this sheet with two cheapy DJ blacklights.

Being attacked by Western Yellow Jackets :(
I had two blacklight setups going in this area. Temps around 75 degrees, moon around 25%
This is from the second sheet described below.
First sheet near second yellow gate lit by a Bioquip blacklight connected to car jumper thing with a 12 volt socket:

Looks like a pearl and not phaon, right? First time I see one outside of the Everglades/Big Cypress. Not sure how unusual a sighting it is
Seen while completing plant monitoring with Steve W in the Hole-in-the-Donut, Restoration Area 1997, in Everglades National Park

Set up two blacklights aimed at one sheet at Pinecrest Campground in Loop Road. This was one of the more exciting insects I saw. Will post everything in the next day or two but just had to post this one already! Other observations from blacklighting on this night (another sheet set up at Mitchell's landing)

I did this last summer and posted a video from Pinecrest campground, talking about my set up. You can see that here: https://youtu.be/tavmTa7WoPk
Seen at Ned Glenn Nature Preserve on a field trip led by Jimmy Lange. Thanks Jimmy for showing us around this awesome pineland! There was a prescribed burn here around 6-7 months ago. This was part of a really cool set of field trips organized by the Dade Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society as part of Native Plant Field Day. More info here: https://dade.fnpschapters.org/data/uploads/documents/npd2021registration.pdf
Very much worth joining the FNPS to be a part of all of these fun activities and learn more about all of the unique habitats and plants throughout South Florida. Here's the link to the Dade Chapter's page if you want to learn more:

Three seen together although one flew off before I went for the group photo (photo 2)
ID is a guess/iNat's suggestion.
Found under large fruiting strangler fig that was dropping tons of fruit
Another black-throated blue warbler window strike...
thankfully was only stunned and flew off 8-10 minutes later.
This is the second one in ten days, the other one also recovered:

On Cordia sebestena. Reminds me of this one, which was also on Cordia sebestena: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/49194333
Not sure what to make of this one. Unfortunately I didn't get better photos.
Seen near the Edge of Everglades trail in an area that recently burned (I am pretty sure it was a prescribed burn and not a wildfire). I think it might have burned on March 25th or a few days before then.
The road I walked west on was flooded in many parts but there were lots of cool nocturnal fish and other critters that came out after the sun went down. Frogs were also calling non-stop. I set up a blacklight but ended up spending more time looking around in the water than watching the sheet for bugs. The area south of the road I walked had been burned less than 2 months ago and there was a lot of nice plant action.

Activity
Set up a blacklight facing the creek and it got pretty busy but somehow most of the photos were deleted from the memory card :-(... waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can try again.
ID suggested by iNat
Temp probably in the low 50's... not much activity at the blacklight

Elizabeth and I went to Cross Timbers Park in North Richland Hills -- not many people in the prairie, so we had a great time social distancing with bugs and plants. :)
Very difficult to photograph. Would only sit still for about a second before flying around again.
Had a nice afternoon at Bob Findlay Linear Park looking at bugs along the edges. Enjoyed observing lots of nature today. :)

Several around two small Ficus aurea (strangler fig) trees growing in this old construction area. Another individual photographed by @camilyyy here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/41404416
We first thought this was a roadkilled marmot but he was just basking in the afternoon sun.
Perched along the Ingraham Highway a little before Lucky Hammock (seen from car)
ID is a guess
We noticed this stunning male Southern Carpenter Bee crawling slowly across our back deck. It eventually gained some energy and flew off.
