What a wonderful evening at Twelve Hills! Around 45 folks showed up to enjoy all of the cool critters that showed up to the blacklights. :)
Put up the blacklights tonight in the backyard to see what bugs have tolerated the crazy heat!
The 4th annual moth night at John Bunker Sands! Around 75 folks showed up, and so did the bugs -- SO MANY BUGS. The aquatic beetles were quite intense, especially on the boardwalk, but several other interesting critters showed up too. :)
What a wonderful evening at Sheri Capehart Nature Preserve with around 50 folks celebrating national moth week! Some pretty cool bugs showed up at the sheets this evening. :)

Visited this area by Parkdale Lake -- the City of Dallas is pursuing a grant to manage this spot for wildlife and natural recreation. I didn't get to access the lake (a bit too much bushwhacking!), but the area I did get to explore was really cool!
Had to get my oil change in my car, and after that, I went over to Pappy Elkins Park in Dalworthington Gardens. Crazy hot again today, but there were still quite a few critters out!
Large walking stick…longer than an iPhone clinging to the window all day. It moved elsewhere during the night for it was gone the next morning.
The sun was out this afternoon and it was definitely warmer than this morning! I enjoyed walking through this prairie at Hickory Creek Preserve.
Two different color types of this beetle. Pretty awesome
I was able to sneak in a little bit of blacklighting in between some rain here in Aurora! Some neat things showed up to the lights!
They were emerging everywhere that day. This one landed next to me so close to my that i just held cell phone down right next to it.
Had a nice day today with my parents!
What a wonderful evening at Trinity River Audubon Center with fellow naturalists! We documented quite a few nocturnal critters that came to our blacklights. :)
Went over to Cabler Park in Brownsville -- this is a surprisingly cool park with lots of really neat plants. Several harvester ant nests, and I could have sworn I spotted a horned lizard! It disappeared before I could find it though...
Had such a magnificent time at Little L Ranch with lots of master naturalists. We did some blacklighting on this evening, and loads of cool critters showed up! Still working on some ID's for these...
Had a really nice evening at Tandy Hills doing some blacklighting! Several really neat bugs showed up. :)

What is this Frankenstein plant? Looks like a cross between G. pulchella and G. aestivalis
This was one of my favorite parts of the camp -- north of the biodiversity park. Several jebels (hills) here, and lots of neat critters and plants. Spooked the fox here too! :)

At lunch, I went over to Thora Hart Park in Arlington -- nice deep sands here. A bit windy and chilly, but some bugs were still out! :)
My nephew, niece, and I went again to the lake to explore some more! This time, we went along the north side -- spotted neat stuff!

Was feeling quite tired this afternoon, and the kids were in school, so I went over to the lake just by myself to take it easy. Enjoyed some quiet time! :)
