Not sure if it is a growth, gall, or some type of cocoon.

Exceptionally tiny fungal parasite growing on unidentified lichen. Lichen growing on live Liriodendron upper branches.
Found by @tfiacco. Growing on Physcia pumilior.
Information I found on E. aurantiacum.
"Described as a virulent parasite of corticolous Physcia spp., occasionally also attacking neighbouring thalli of other lichens." "A lichenicolous fungus with orange sclerotia found on dead and dying areas of the host thallus." "Pale orange bulbils on bleached areas of lichen thalli. Bulbils can be spherical or merged into distorted shapes." In the original observation you can clearly see the thallus of P. pumilior is bleached although it doesn't appear so in these images.

S. polyrhizum? I thought that only grew in soil? On a decayed pine stump.
At the base of a dead tree, predominantly hardwood in the area so I'm assuming this was as well. On a creek bank.
On fallen pine. Photographed them on the branch while wet and fully hydrated after a rain. Collected them and photographed later after they had fully dried.
