Seen well, first town record.
Chipmunks on the Spring Range, Mount Charleston Wilderness area. Several individuals all sitting up in fir trees, calling "whisk."
10am on 7/28 for 2 hours. 2 gray whales feeding near shore. On surface for about 3-5 blows then a dive down for about 5 mins. One showed fluke on each dive. Came back the next morning 7/29 at 9am and both there feeding behavior slightly different with watching them for a half hour, 2 blows and a dive no fluking and down for about 2-3 mins.
In sagebrush country
Very short tail that doesn't fit any Microtus sp., nor Clethrionomys gapperi.
The only other vole looking similar is Phenacomys intermedius but the range and habitat is wrong for it.
Biggest chorus frog I’ve ever seen.
