We saw a Great Spotted Kiwi when our guide Joe Haley pulled it out of its burrow hole.

Some pics to show some of the differences between this species and the tag named entity Spiranthes "Motutangi". The latter is more densely hairy, the lateral sepals tend to flare widely when flowering and it has a folded in "slipper" labellum, amongst other differences. The labellum in S. novae-zelandiae is open at the end, is much more frilly and often extends well beyond the sepals. The tag named entity is in the process of being formally described.
Single plant on gravelly limestone pavement
Growing on the ground in broadleaf-podocarp forest.
Group of coral fungi growing on soil amongst litter under mature broadleaf. The tips of this coral are quite golden in colour with the 'trunk' a paler creamy-tan colour. The fruit body surface is finely velvety with the tips branching into two and some branches joined together. Each individual fruit body about 2 cm in diameter and 5 cm in height.
The little unidentified spider orchid thought possibly to be Corybas “Kaitarakihi”. Out of a patch of 100ish leaves this was the only on in flower
Not sure if they're still thought to be Grooved Helmet-Orchid or not now. Looks like a poor year for this orchid, some areas where there's normally hundreds of leaves have virtually none
