Growing out of a living black oak
Found growing from the base of an oak. Underside was clearly individual tubes when examined with a hand lens.
Polypore, dark pink cap with white granular coating. Light pink pores. Overlapping.
I believe this is a start of a beefsteak fungus.
Fruiting in riparian zone next to narrow leaf cottonwoods, willows, Russian olive trees, among leaf litter. 6000’ elevation
