It's just a hobby. Born into a biologist family. Main interest in flies.
The fly on my nose was a Phaonia angelicae.
The photos are usually taken of living animals in their natural environment unless mentioned otherwise.
I do not collect specimens. But anybody who needs some is invited to come here and collect some, a spacious low-cost accomodation is available on site.

If you need a photo for a publication, please contact me when you need the uncropped full-resolution photo. Only out-of-camera JPGs are available, no RAW Format.
Workflow (Software):
1) Google Picasa
*) Download from camera (Picasa)
*) Removal of bad photos (Picasa), usually 60% of photos discarded
*) Selection for further processing and brightness correction, 50% of photos selected
*) Export of selected images to dedicated folder
2) XnViewMP
*) Cropping/Rotation of selected images
3) Upload to iNaturalist, average is 3 to 4 photos per observation
Usually the turn-over ratio is 0.05-0.06. (0.4 x 0.5 x 0.3)
that means 1000 photos from the camera result in 50 to 60 observations
60% are discarded after download from camera
50% of them are seleced for upload to iNaturalist
Average of 3 to 4 photos per observation (0,25-0,33 --> 0.3)
