2024 Results!

Between April 26th and 29th, we made 11,100 observations of 1,670 species in the Chicagoland Region!

Globally, we made 2,436,000 observations of 65,600+ species (including 3,940+ rare/endangered/threatened species) made possible by 83,500 participants in 690 cities!

Identification time!

TONIGHT (April 30th): Join other iNatters at District Brew Yards from 6PM to 8PM.

Folks will get a quick tutorial on how to use the iNaturalist app and website, and then hang out enjoying the local brew while identifying observations that occurred over the past weekend.

ID the Birds & Bees with ISC (April 30th at District Brew Yards)

Join other iNatters and Illinois Science Council at District Brew Yards on Tuesday, April 30th (6PM to 8PM).

Organize an event before/during/after the 2024 City Nature Challenge

If you or your organization is thinking about holding a related event before, during, or soon after the City Nature Challenge in the Chicagoland Region, we will be collecting all event information and displaying them on and this iNat project.

Example events include:

  • bioblitzes
  • guided nature hikes
  • informal meetups, virtual or in-person
  • iNaturalist workshops/trainings (e.g. for beginners, how to add IDs, educator-focused, or advanced iNat usage)
  • virtual identification party or nature storytelling
  • sharing how your organization or research uses iNat data
  • learning about urban flora and fauna through iNat or Seek
  • urban nature trivia Zoom
  • ???
