Abudefduf sexfasciatus - Scissortail sergeant

Αυτόχθονο είδος του Ινδο-Ειρηνικού Ωκεανού και της Ερυθράς Θάλασσας που εντοπίστηκε για πρώτη φορά στη Μεσόγειο το 2017 στην Ελλάδα, στα πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Σε ξενίζει .... Μοιράσου το μαζί μας-Is it Alien to you? Share it!!!, πιθανότατα ως αποτέλεσμα απελευθέρωσης από ενυδρείο. Στη Μεσόγειο εντοπίζονται τουλάχιστον άλλα δύο είδη του ίδιου γένους, που επίσης θεωρούνται ξενικά, το Αbudefduf saxatilis και το Αbudefduf vaigiensis.

Abudefduf sexfasciatus - Scissortail sergeant

The scissortail sergeant or striptailed damselfish is native to the Indo-Pacific and the Red Sea.
The species was first reported in the Mediterranean in Greece, back in 2017. In the context of the project ‘’Is it Alien to you? Share it!!!’’ and it was suspected to be an aquarium release. Another two species of the same genus can be found in the Mediterranean Sea both considered alien, Αbudefduf saxatilis and Αbudefduf vaigiensis.
