Ξενικά είδη στη Μεσόγειο επικίνδυνα για την ανθρώπινη υγεία - Alien species in the Mediterranean Sea pose risk to human health
Μεταξύ των ξενικών ειδών που έχουν καταγραφεί στη Μεσόγειο, δέκα είδη έχουν επισημανθεί ως επικίνδυνα για την ανθρώπινη υγεία - επτά ψάρια, ένας αχινός, ένα σκυφόζωο, μια μέδουσα και ένα υδρόζωο. Τα περισσότερα από αυτά τα είδη, αν και εντοπίζονται εδώ και πολλά χρόνια στη Μεσόγειο, την τελευταία δεκαετία έχουν αυξηθεί σημαντικά οι πληθυσμοί τους. Οι μεσογειακές χώρες πρέπει να είναι προετοιμασμένες για την αντιμετώπιση περιστατικών, ξεκινώντας από την εκπαίδευση και την κατάρτιση του ιατρικού προσωπικού, του προσωπικού της τουριστικής βιομηχανίας, καθώς και του ευρύτερου κοινού.

Among the alien species recorded in the Mediterranean Sea, ten are noted as human health hazards – seven fish, a sea urchin, a scyphozoan jellyfish and a hydrozoan. Most have either been post-millennial records or have greatly increased their spread in the last decade. The Mediterranean countries are called on to prepare themselves for these health hazards, starting with the education and training of medical staff, tourism industry personnel, marine recreational industry personnel, as well as the general public.
