Quite similar to Calligrapha serpentina (Globemallow Leaf Beetle) which, according to BugGuide.net, occurs from California to Texas and down through Central America.
This is one of the most colourful moths that I have ever encountered; but it was wary and I only managed to get one rather poor photo before it took flight.
A Brazilian Fungus Beetle (Endomychidae?) nibbles on a small fungus.
This beetle is nearly identical to the widespread and common Eight-spotted Flea Beetle (Omophoita cyanipennis) except that it is missing the eight large white spots on the elytra that give the latter its common name.
