Queen, found in ordinary leaf litter along with several other Strumigenys species (despite the fact that this is generally regarded as a subterranean species). Located in a wet forest that apparently gets some seasonal flooding, but specifically in a more elevated spot that does not get inundated with water like the surrounding areas.
S. hexamera is a specialist predator of mostly dipluran prey rather than mostly Collembolans like other Strumigenys.
