I have not had this i.d confirmed so I have deleted the original observation, uploaded all my shots (unfortunately taken at a distance so not brilliant), included a shot of the bird next to a common ringed plover for comparison #9/10 and in shot #11 explained why I think this might be a little ringed plover.
Pleasingly iNat now gives Little Ringed Plover as the most likely identification, so my original choice of pictures may have been poor
Summary of my reasons for thinking a little Ringed Plover:
Beak colour
3 Leg colour
4 yellow ring around eye (which initially I thought was missing but on review of enlarged pictures does show)
My lingering doubt is whether this smaller bird is, in fact, a juvenile and this might explain smaller size and lack of characteristics of the Common Ringed Plover adult bird? I honestly don’t know what a juvenile Common Ringed Plover looks like and it seems convenient that both birds stood next to each other!
