I was standing under a Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) when this little guy dropped on me. I would have gone with a Dipteran except for the tented leaves.
A pretty good match to Amphigerontia
Tiny insect, a few mm long, with the appearance of six-pack abs.
