Quarry area on South Table mountain. A fast-shrinking puddle filled with salamanders.

I briefly obserbed a Plains Leopard Frog before it jumped into the water (couldn’t get pics). It was resting in shallow water surrounded by cattails on the edge of a small lake (Lower Hoffman Lake). It was significantly larger than a Boreal Chorus, smaller than a Bullfrog, had elongated proportions, was covered in blotchy patches, and had two discontinuous dorsal lines. Boyd Lake is adjacent to this small lake and has a large introduced population of Plains Leopard Frogs but no Northern Leopard Frogs.
