It looked like it was guarding one of the big geese in the park
It's the child of a Mallard and Alopochen aegyptica
I know that Mallards that are a mix of domestic and wild varieties can be variable, but this is not like one I have seen before, yet I could not match it with anything else.
Wood Duck, found deceased, in stairwell of garage at 25 Cottage Ave, Quincy. Stairwell has glass windows, so likely window strike. No apparent external injuries, and looked to be in good health given good condition of feathers etc.; small amount of blood visible coming from nostrils.
