Not the endemic...
Elevation 500-550m. Secondary forest/gardens.
Okay. I found this species in Maui and I thought I would get decent suggestions but I was shocked to see there isn’t any Pygmy grasshopper species in Hawaii. It seems like it’s from the genus Tetrix but I’m not sure. The photos show the eyes and the coloration and I think it is well enough to find the species. I believe it can be an invasive species that got brought to the island recently because there hasn’t been any record of Pygmy grasshoppers in the islands. If this is the case this will be an important observation for the diversity and populations on Maui.
@skejo @brandonwoo any suggestions on the species or if it’s a nymph or full adult. It was found next to some waterfalls and next to an assassin bug that can also be invasive. It seems as if somehow this area of tourism has let more invasive species in the island. This is exciting.
