The Mottled Duck prefers marsh and inland freshwater but can also be found in shallow ponds. Their diet consists of seeds, shoots of a variety of grasses and aquatic invertebrates and small fish. If you desire to feed them, it is recommended to give them birdseeds, oats, rice, cracked corn. Do not feed bread or crackers as this doesn not have any nutritional value and over time can cause malnutrition and deformities.
