Turtle in the middle surrounded by the midland painted turtles, of course!
bird of prey ; I presume a hawk
Photographed from approximately 210m away.
Smashed. first seen on May 25. Could (did) not stop. At very least, injured. May have been dead. Went back today to collect the remains. Identified as large female Blanding's turtle. Development in an area known for significant Blanding's population. Turtle fences in area but 2 schools built along road mean that fence not continuous.
Note that size is estimate. Tail was detached today. I've got carcass in my freezer. More photos available but too large to upload. Hope to add later.
Deceased due to road mortality
Rescued off the road. It was going in a north-west direction. Moved the across the road in the direction it was going.
Total 51cm and STN 39. Found on the end of someone's laneway
Too mangled to get measurements
Found by Grade 7 students from Pinecrest elementary school.
Slithered to safety off the road.
