I am a birder and naturalist originally from the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania. I currently live in Pasadena, California where I am a PhD candidate at Caltech.

Although I get excited by just about everything in nature, I am particularly fond of birds, butterflies, springtails, and Carex sedges. Oh, and bobcats. When it comes to birding, I enjoy exploring remote locations as well as seeking visible migration phenomena and listening for nocturnal flight calls. You might find me setting up autonomous audio recorders and camera traps way out in the middle of nowhere.
