I'm an Entomology PhD student studying phylogenomics and parasitism in Calyptrate flies, with blow flies and bot flies very dear to my heart. I am most familiar with the systematics, trophic specializations, and forensic/ecological roles of blow flies, and am studying bioinformatics, comparative genomics, and insect taxonomy to reveal as many stories within Diptera that I can.

I am trying to post observations more consistently here – I mostly enjoy browsing and identifying. For species-level identifications and corrections, I leave the characters I used to determine in a comment. If my comment didn't send or if you have better information, please send me a message and I will greatly appreciate it. The most helpful features for the majority of blow fly identifications are the base of the wing, face, and thorax. Information on where it was collected and what it was doing is always helpful as well; I'm very interested in using ecological traits to aid in identification.

–outside of extant animals... I adore Epicyon sp., Miracinonyx, Megaloceros, microraptors, and Archaeopteryx
