Ornithologist & casual birder with a growing interest in insects. I'm an Assistant Professor of Zoology at Santa Monica College trying to spread a love of natural history to my students. I'm also a Research Associate in the Ornithology Department at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, where my research focuses on the coevolution of bobwhite quails and their feather lice. Formerly a PhD student at LSU where I studied phylogenomics and systematics of New World quails (Odontophoridae), especially bobwhites. Trying to become a better all-around naturalist.
