Marlon Garlet Facco has a PhD in Botany at the Universidade de Brasília (2019), a Master's in Botany at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2015) and a degree in Biological Sciences at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (2012). His research involves taxonomic, morphological and phylogenetic studies of Lythraceae. He is currently a member of the Flora e Funga do Brasil project, as one of the researchers responsible for the monographs of the genera Adenaria, Ammannia, Cuphea, Gyrosphragma, Heimia, Lagerstroemia, Lythrum, Physocalymma, Pleurophora, Punica, and Rotala.
