After having a casual interest in Australian wildlife - and especially parrots - for decades, I started an account called @ParrotOfTheDay on Twitter in 2015. There I feature a different wild parrot species each day, along with a range of photos of wild parrots (my own and others photographers', always with full credit and link to original source), and news and links about parrot conservation, ecology and science.
To my surprise and delight, Parrot of the Day has turned out to be a powerful way to connect with a vibrant global community of naturalists and ornithologists, bird and wildlife photographers, ecologists, conservation biologists and researchers, as well as people who love and care about wildlife and the environment. Feel free to join us there!
I acknowledge and pay my respects to the traditional owners of the land on which I live and work, the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation in southeastern Australia, and try to learn as much as I can about Indigenous history of the places I visit when birdwatching.
