I'm an avid outdoorsman (mostly hiking, but also canoeing/kayaking/mountain biking). In New Hampshire I knew most of the wild edibles, and was beginning to learn to read the forested landscape. I came to Texas in 2017 when my job moved, and have been learning a new landscape.
I live close to Pedernales Falls, so that's where I spend most of my outdoor time, but I've enjoyed most of the state parks with two hours of Austin.
I'm most interested in building a holistic picture of the land - how do the various living and nonliving entities interact? Why does that plant grow here and not there? Which animals like this area? And of course, "what around here can I eat?"
