Welcome to the Alaska Botany Bioblitz!

Hello and welcome to the Alaska Botany Bioblitz!
We are excited that you're interested in this event! Below is the who, what, where, when, and why of this event.

Who? Anyone in Alaska can join! This is a family-friendly event.
What? A bioblitz is a citizen science project to document as many species as possible in a designated time period and location.
Where? Anywhere in Alaska!
When? July 1-15, 2022. A virtual kickoff will be held June 30 7:00-8:00 pm ADST (details to follow in June)
Why? To have fun outside, raise awareness of Alaska native plants, and document observations of Alaska Native Plants.

Interested in becoming a local trip leader?

Are you interested in becoming a local bioblitz field trip leader or bioblitz ambassador? A trip leader is someone who is willing to coordinate one or more field trips in their local area during the bioblitz. An ambassador is someone who is willing to perform outreach to their local community to increase awareness of the bioblitz with the intent of increasing the number of participants.

If so please reach out to ak-botany-bioblitz-2022@aknps.org and express your interest.

June 15 Webinar: Learn to Use iNaturalist!

Want to participate in the Alaska Botany Bioblitz but need some guidance on using iNaturalist? Join the Alaska Native Plant Society for a free educational webinar on June 15, 7-8 pm AKDT.

During the one-hour webinar, Aaron Wells will describe how to use iNaturalist to share observations, provide identifications, and participate in local research projects. Email ak-botany-bioblitz-2022@aknps.org for the meeting link.
