Maroondah and City Nature Challenge 2024
Hi all,
As someone who has previously made one or more observation in iNaturalist within Maroondah, we are inviting you to contribute to our participation in the 2024 City Nature Challenge.
This year, Maroondah is one of at least 26 metropolitan Melbourne councils teaming up to represent “Greater Melbourne” on the global stage, competing against over 500 other cities from across the world.
In 2024, the City Nature Challenge is running from Friday 26th of April to Monday 29th of April, and we invite you to make observations of wild plants, animals and fungi anywhere in Maroondah, or metropolitan Melbourne, during this period.
Over the four days, Maroondah City Council is running two Nature Discovery Activities, where experts will help you discover and observe local examples of frogs and birds, and also help you get familiar with using iNaturalist. Numbers are limited however, so register online while you can!
This is a great opportunity to discover and perhaps start noticing more, some of the biodiversity in your own backyard.
We’re looking forward to seeing as many people as possible out and about recording their observations of local nature over the course of the Challenge and hope that everyone enjoys themselves while discovering the local biodiversity right here in Maroondah!
